Estimation of the number of AMI events at 10 years with the CASSANDRA system

Over the past three decades a large quantity of information has been collected about the incidence of ischemic heart disease and the prevalence of risk factors in Catalonia and in Spain.

We developed CASSANDRA, a system that allows us to determine the number of major ischemic heart disease events that could be reduced at 10 years, assuming that the incidence remained stable, with different types of interventions to control cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes and tobacco use.
